AGUNA: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi provides immediate open access to all published articles. All articles are freely available to readers without subscription fees or registration requirements.

This journal supports the principle that making scientific research freely accessible to the public encourages a greater global exchange of knowledge and contributes to the advancement of research and academic development.

Readers are permitted to access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of published articles without financial, legal, or technical barriers, subject to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License (CC BY 3.0).

Authors retain the copyright of their published works and grant AGUNA: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi the right of first publication.

Publication Ethic and Malpractice Statement

AGUNA: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, fairness, and professional responsibility.

Manuscripts submitted to AGUNA must be original works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification of data, unethical research practices, or other forms of academic misconduct. Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software to verify originality and prevent academic misconduct.

1. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining the quality, academic integrity, and overall standards of the journal. Editorial decisions must be based on the scholarly quality, originality, relevance, and contribution of the manuscript, without discrimination based on the author's gender, ethnicity, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, political views, or other personal characteristics.

Editors must:

• maintain confidentiality throughout the editorial and peer-review process;
• ensure that manuscripts are evaluated fairly, objectively, and consistently;
• select reviewers who have appropriate expertise and are free from conflicts of interest;
• avoid using unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal or professional advantage;
• identify and address potential conflicts of interest;
• take appropriate action when ethical concerns or suspected misconduct arise; and
• work with authors and reviewers to correct or retract articles when necessary.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted work is original, accurate, and ethically conducted. Authors must ensure that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not being considered simultaneously by another journal.

Authors must:

• ensure the originality and integrity of their work;
• avoid plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, and falsification of data;
• provide accurate and complete information about the research and its findings;
• properly acknowledge and cite all sources, data, ideas, and contributions used in the manuscript;
• ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made substantial contributions to the work and have approved the final version of the manuscript;
• disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could constitute a conflict of interest;
• comply with applicable ethical requirements and regulations when the research involves human participants, personal data, or other sensitive materials; and
• promptly notify the editor if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered in a published article and cooperate in issuing a correction, clarification, or retraction when necessary.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an important role in maintaining the quality and integrity of AGUNA: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, independently, constructively, and confidentially.

Reviewers must:

• provide fair, objective, and constructive assessments of submitted manuscripts;
• maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained during the review process;
• disclose any potential conflict of interest and decline the review when they are unable to provide an impartial assessment;
• inform the editor if they identify substantial similarities between the manuscript under review and any previously published work;
• not use unpublished information, ideas, data, or arguments obtained through the peer-review process for personal or professional advantage; and
• report any suspected plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other ethical concerns to the editor.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

Universitas Amikom Purwokerto, as the publisher of AGUNA: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi, supports the editors in maintaining the academic integrity and independence of the journal. The publisher is committed to providing appropriate resources and support for the journal's editorial and peer-review processes.

The publisher will not interfere with editorial decisions and will work with the editors to address allegations of ethical misconduct, corrections, retractions, and other matters affecting the integrity of the scholarly record.

5. Conflicts of Interest

All authors, editors, and reviewers are required to disclose any financial, personal, institutional, or professional relationships that could influence or be perceived to influence the publication or review process.

Individuals with a significant conflict of interest should not participate in the evaluation or editorial decision-making process for the affected manuscript. Any disclosed conflict of interest will be handled appropriately to maintain the fairness and integrity of the editorial process.

6. Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

AGUNA: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, or other forms of research and publication misconduct.

Manuscripts may be checked using plagiarism-detection software during the editorial process. If plagiarism or other forms of misconduct are identified, the journal may reject the manuscript or take appropriate corrective action in accordance with established publication ethics procedures and applicable COPE guidelines.

7. Corrections and Retractions

AGUNA: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record. When significant errors are identified in a published article, the journal may publish a correction, clarification, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.

Authors are expected to cooperate with the editors in investigating concerns and correcting the published record. Retractions may be issued when the findings or integrity of an article are seriously compromised due to misconduct, major errors, or other circumstances that invalidate the published work.

8. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit an appeal regarding an editorial decision when they believe that the decision was based on a significant misunderstanding or procedural error. Appeals should provide clear and substantive reasons and will be considered by the editorial team in accordance with the journal's policies.

Complaints concerning publication ethics, editorial conduct, peer review, or other aspects of the publication process should be submitted to the journal editor. All complaints will be handled seriously, confidentially, and fairly.
